Pool days and summer playdates call for fun food and delicious drinks. If you’re busy (and who isn’t this season?), you can prep your ingredients ahead of time. “Arrange most of the chilled ingredients on the board in advance and keep the whole board covered in the refrigerator. I recommend waiting to add some items like cookies, crackers, pretzels, or popcorn until just before serving so they stay fresh or crisp,” says Maegan.
Her own crew loves fresh fruit, popcorn, pretzels, crackers, cheese cubes, trail mix, frozen grapes, and individual snack packs for grab-and-go snacks. Maegan says keeping the lemonade cold does require some planning. “Serve it in a pitcher filled and surrounded by plenty of ice or in an insulated dispenser with ice. I also like freezing some lemonade into ice cubes so the drink stays cold without getting diluted,” she suggests.

To lower the sugar on this particular snack board, she recommends reducing the sugar in the lemonade, or diluting with sparkling water. And if the candy is too much, customize the board with more fresh fruit, cheese cubes, popcorn, or other low-sugar alternatives. Says Maegan: “The goal is to create a fun, festive spread that works for your family, so feel free to mix and match based on your preferences.”
