Happy October! To help you get the most out of all the pumpkin and Halloween season festivities happening in our area, I put together a list of some of my favorite events! Grab the family and have some fun!!
Jones Family Farms Pumpkinseed Hill Farm

Head to Pumpkinseed Hill Farm at Jones Family Farms for all things pumpkins and a new hayride!
Open daily from 10-5:30
Hayride $6/ Children 2 and under FREE
- Hayrides are every day (weather permitting, call Farmer Jones for daily updates).
- Travel through our family-friendly Corn Maze for $4 per person, children 2 and under are free. The Corn Maze is open weekends 10 to 5:30 and on weekdays from 3 to 5:30.
- On weekends, we recommend you bring a wagon or stroller for your harvest and/or young children. We have limited amounts of pumpkin carts and they are not safe for transporting children.
- We offer fresh Pumpkin Cranberry Cookies, delicious apple cider and apples for purchase. Have a snack or meal before you head to the farm; please note that there is no picnicking or tailgating at the farm.
Treat Farm The Corn Maze

Come visit in the fall and experience our challenging 5 acre corn maze. Get lost in the stalks and try to complete the trivia game within the maze. Stop by the farm stand for tickets and for game instructions. Admission is $6 per person.

The Flashlight Maze Experience
For the brave adventurers out there you can attempt the corn maze at night. 10/5,10/7, 10/13, and 10/20. Start at the farm stand between 6pm and 8pm

Pumpkins Eve – Friday, October 5, 6 – 10PM (Admission: $5)
Pumpkins Eve will be a night full of fun! Spend a night under the stars at Pumpkins Eve, enjoying the sounds of the Rum Runners, trying out a variety of food trucks and beer by The New England Brewing Co., and visiting the Pumpkin Patch! New England Brewing Co. is the official beer partner and co-host of the evening and the RumRunners return as musical guests. New England Brewing Co. is one of the best and most respected craft breweries in New England and it is their first time at Pumpkins Eve. They strive for the highest quality beer experience by following some basic, simple, core values: quality, integrity, staff, community, industry. RumRunners are one of Connecticut’s most popular cover bands. Over the last 14 years they’ve helped to raise money for dozens of charities, including: The American Lung Association, The Connecticut Burn Camp, The Sunshine Kids Camp, Cystic Fibrosis, Breast Cancer Awareness and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Pumpkins on the Pier – Saturday, October 6, 10AM – 5PM (Admission: Free)
Excitement fills the air on Saturday at Pumpkins on the Pier. This year, it holds even more mystery, as two new activities will be there! There will be a large corn maze and an obstacle course. As always, fan favorites will be returning, such as the pumpkin patch, pumpkin activities, face painting, arts and crafts, food trucks and amazing pier displays!

Activities include Trunk or Treat, $3 horse drawn carriage rides, costume parade with prizes, and best decorated car prizes!! Enjoy Halloween story reading and food vendors like Reno and Sons pizza truck. There will be a photo booth, games, crafts, and more!! In October, a nostalgic 1950’s tradition will return. The windows of many retailers and restaurants on River and Broad Streets will be decorated byPlatt Technical High School students. Visitors are encouraged to take a Hall-O-Stroll and vote for the Best Window Decoration by posting your photo with the hashtags:
